Generic Stromectol Ivermectin in the Treatment of Onchocerciasis & Other Worm Infestations

Generic Stromectol Ivermectin (22,23-dihydroavermectin B1a + 22,23-dihydroavermectin B1b) is a wide-ranging anti-parasite drug. It was usually used against worms (except tapeworms). But this has been proved very efficient against most mites and some lice too. It is primarily used in humans to treat onchocerciasis, but is also helpful against other worm infestations (for example strongyloidiasis, ascariasis, trichuriasis and enterobiasis).

 

How to use

Take by mouth, with plain water. Don't take any other drinks. Your condition and response to therapy will determine whether you need it in future.

 

Stromectal Precaution

Before you have any medical tests, tell the medical doctor in charge that you are taking Generic Stromectol Ivermectin. It may obstruct the results of some tests (blood or liver tests). Check your progress at regular visits.

 

What side effects may I notice from this medicine?

A clinical study shows that about 0.9% of people experienced Gastrointestinal such as anorexia, constipation, diarrhea (1.8%), nausea (1.8%), vomiting (0.9%) while a few people reported nervous system/psychiatric problems such as dizziness, somnolence, vertigo and tremor.

There are also many less serious side effects have been listen under the side effects list of this drug, such as:

•  swelling or tenderness of your lymph nodes;

•  itching or skin rash; and urticaria

•  feeling that something is in your eye(s).

•  swelling of your hands, ankles, or feet;

 

Overdose

If overdose is alleged, make contact with your local poison control center or emergency room instantaneously. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222. Canadian residents should call their local poison control center directly. Symptoms of overdose are dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea swelling; severe headache; tiredness, or weakness.

 

Important Notes

Do not give this medication to others. Generic Stromectol Ivermectin is exclusively meant for the patient.

Laboratory and/or medical tests (e.g., stool examinations) should be made to monitor your progress and for side effects. Keep all medical appointments.

 

Missed dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not take more than suggested by the doctor.

 

Generic Stromectol Ivermectin's Use in Particular Population

Nursing Mothers

Generic Stromectol Ivermectin is excreted in human milk in low concentrations. Treatment of breastfeeding mothers should only be assumed when the risk of delayed treatment to the mother overshadow the possible risk to the newborn.

Pediatric Use

Pediatric patients less than 15 kg can not use this medication.

Geriatric Use

Clinical studies of Generic Stromectol Ivermectin have not revealed that the elder patient have a different response from younger subjects. As a rule, treatment of an elderly patient should be conducted with care, considering the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, and of concomitant disease.

Pregnancy Category C

There are, yet, no ample and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Ivermectin should not be used during pregnancy since safety in pregnancy has not been confirmed.

Strongyloidiasis in Immunocompromised Hosts

or treating intestinal strongyloidiasis in immunocompromised (including HIV-infected) patients, repeated courses of therapy may be required. Adequate and well-controlled clinical studies have not been made in such patients to find out the most favorable dosing schedule. Several treatments, i.e., at 2-week intervals, may be required, and cure may be doubtful. It is difficult to control of extra-intestinal strongyloidiasis in these patients, and suppressive therapy, i.e., once per month, may be helpful.
